About us

Northern Rivers & Byron Bay Preschools comprises of 3 high-quality non-profit, community-based early childhood education centres in Byron Bay & Kunghar. We pride ourselves on delivering responsive innovative programs in which every child will thrive.

Both Byron Bay Preschool Coogera and Cavanbah have independently received the ‘Exceeding Rating’ across every single standard and area in the National Quality Standards, placing both preschools in the top 5% of early childhood centres in Australia. Our preschools achieved an ‘outstanding’ rating in the 2022 Kindercare awards, only 2% of early childhood centres achieved this rating. We are proud to have provided Byron Bay’s children with exceptional early childhood education since 1976.

Our Programs

Each of our five preschool programs are led by degree-qualified early childhood teachers and are supported by experienced diploma-qualified educators. In partnership with families, teachers develop a ‘priority learning goal’ for each child. This ensures teams are focused on providing teaching and learning attuned to individual needs and strengths. Each room provides a rich curriculum based on the Early Years Learning Framework.

Rooms

Our Gabul and Miwing Rooms are at our Coogera Centre in Suffolk Park. Our Binging and Wajung Rooms are situated at our Cavanbah Centre, in the heart of Byron Bay. These four centre based programs run two groups. One at the start of the week (Monday/Tuesday) and one at the end (Thursday/Friday). Children from both groups are eligible to pick up a third day (Wednesday) if one is available. We also run a licensed bush preschool program called Nature Hearts. These children attend Thursday/Friday.
